Who Wears the Pants? Honeeyz Do!

Can you believe there was once a world where women were not allowed to wear pants or frowned upon if they tried? Praise God we are above and beyond those days because I'd probably be in a whole bunch of trouble had I lived back in that day. Lord Knows!!!! Ironically though, my profession still frowns upon women wearing pants, particularly in certain  enviromnents (i.e. COURT...If you don't wear a skirt suit in black, navy, or dark grey while before the court then you are totally out of place and inappropriate... sighhhh... starting to think I'm in the wrong field).   Anyways, because I know better and in knowing better, I know that a woman (or should I say, honeey) suited in a fine fitting pair of strong, tailored, yet sexy pants, is almost EVERYthing! In short, that whole women in pants not being feminine enough rule/standard does not apply in Lee's world.  Case and point, these fitted, peach brocade cropped pants I'm wearing and loving! They are super sexy and femine but strong too because of the tailoring and definitive creases.

I broke my boycott of ASOS and bought these a few weeks ago.  But to my credit it was kinda accidental (here comes the drama and extra...). I got an email from another source (Refinery29 to be exact) with a perfect pair of cropped pants and when I hit the link of where I could buy them, it took me to ASOS and while the featured cropped pants weren't available these little mommas came up as an alternative and let's just say they were purchased in record time. :-)  Anyways, to keep up with the strong menswear type theme I paired the sexy hawwttt pants (yessssss) with a simple, over sized boyfriend like blue oxford (there is some subtle blue in the print in the pants, which is hard to see in the pics but so cute) not completely buttoned up with my collar popped.  I added gold accesories, including my old school bamboo earrings (boy do I miss the 90's) and the classic nude pumps to keep things strong, sexy, feminine, professional and fun all at the same d@mn time!!!

Now for the Milk: For a strong and powerful look, add some element of menswear to your wardrobe, whether it's a pair of tailored pants, a strong blazer, boyfriend jeans, a classic button up, cuff links, a big face men's watch or even a super masculine hat, with something feminine, and you are bound to exude the ultimate of sexxxxxyyyy! Guaranteed!

Jump!

I really want to say that a great jumpsuit is a staple but I think I'm taking things too far (as usual).  Instead, I will just say that adding a great jumpsuit or romper is sort of one of the best things you can do for your wardrobe. Is that better or still a little too dramatic? I tried.  Anyways, I have a few of these pieces and I love them all in their own little way.  They are so easy to wear and good on the wallet, b/c no matter how much you spend you get everything you need in one piece. You can justify splurging by telling yourself that it's an entire outfit, top and bottom, in one shot. Also, they remind me of the sexiness and swag of the 70s... It could just be my crazy little extra mind but I sort of feel like Pam Grier, but in this decade, when I pull on a jumpsuit/romper??!!  For whatever reason, the fashion world is falling in love with jumpsuits again but they have never really gone anywhere.  In fact,  I bought the one I'm wearing here from ASOS over a year ago and it's the most recent of the few that I own. So there is really nothing new about them but I will admit that they do feel fresh and different with each wear and each new twist. :-)
I wore this outfit to a happy hour to celebrate my favorite co-workers nomination as one of the top 40 under 40 advocates in the nation! I decided to keep things simple and muted in this look. I added a belt that I picked up from Forever21 last summer for $5 b/c without it then I'd be swimming in this jumpsuit.  The clutch and sandals are new favorites and I need no excuse to wear them so they were a no brainer.  The black jacket (see below) is super cute in person...the pics do it no justice. It's a quilted cotton motorcycle jacket and it's kinda contrasting to the simple, sophisticated look of the jumpsuit.
Pleated Jumpsuit: ASOS; Motorcycle Jacket and Tribal Clutch: BCBGeneration; Belt: Forever21; Strappy Sandals: Manolo Blahnik; Watch: Marc by Marc Jacobs; Bracelet: Anthropologie
**Fun Fact:  I paid $120 for this jumpsuit and Valentino has a new similar jumpsuit that several different personalities jumped on (Jada Pinket, Jennifer Williams (BBW), etc.) but it cost nearly $3,000.00!!! Would you even consider spending that kinda money for this....

The Target Challenge Part II: Trendy Pieces 4 Less

Hello my loves!! I'm sooooo sorry for the delay in this post!! Last week was another unexpectedly crazy one and before I knew it an entire week has past since I last talked to you Honeeyz.  Forgive me? Please! Anyways, I'm picking up where we last left off and that's with my Target Style Challenge!! Yaayy!! You guys gave such good feedback on the last post so I hope we can keep it going!  Now let's get right to it, shall we!?! As you know, this series will include inexpensive pieces from my fav place, Target, as a way to show all my honeeyz that style is not dependent upon the cost or the brand but more so on the eye and the attitude.  In this post, I decided to grab what would be considered a trendy piece and build an outfit around it.  No matter how many of us try to pretend we don't follow trends, we do... even when we don't think we do or want to admit it.  Trends are just an integral part of fashion... sometimes they are great and stay, and other times we can't wait for them to go and to never ever come back! For that reason, I think acquiring trendy pieces or testing them out for less is a great way to go! It's a win win people!!
As most of my honeeyz and fly guyz know, pastels and bright pieces are a big deal this season (for the record, they have always been a fav of mine but whatevs).  I happened to luck up on this perfect silk and nylon blend blouse from the Isaac Mizrahi for Target line in a pretty lilac/pinky pastel several years ago. Like many of my other fab Target pieces, I found this top on a clearance rack for $4 and some change! Yup....Isaac Mizrahi, silk, trendy, classic piece...$4!!!! Digest alllll of that!!! I originally bought it for the purpose of wearing under my conservative suits and spicing things up with a pop of color and it worked perfectly that way! But I really haven't worn it outside of that until being forced to examine all my Target pieces for this challenge and put together some outfits. It turns out this piece is so versatile, so pretty, and so on trend despite being about 5 years old. For this challenge, I paired the top with another trendy item of the season...polka dots and b/c I wore this to work (on a Saturday but work even still), I added a blazer to keep things a little more tailored and sophisticated.  What do you honeeyz think of this piece and look?
Silk blend Blouse: Isaac Mizrahi for Target (old); Polka Dot Skinny Jeans: BDG; Patent Leather Platform Pumps: Kelsi Dagger; White Blazer: ASOS Black Collection; Black Leather Bag: Juicy Couture (circa 2004); Watch: Gucci; Bracelets: BCBGeneration; Earrings: Siglo Jewelry

Resurrected!

Hello my loves!!! Today is Easter Sunday or Resurrection Sunday, depending on whom you're talking to but the point of the matter is, this is the day the Lord has truly made!! I hope all you honeeyz and guys had a wonderful holiday and a great weekend! We surely did over here (birthday celebration has officially begun and Friday night was super awesome)! Anyways, what I love about holidays and days of significance is it gives me an opportunity to really get deep into reflection.  Not that I don't reflect, brainstorm and evaluate on a day to day, because I do, but it's days like this when you really take your thoughts further.  Today the message at church got me to thinking long and hard about how, through God's grace and the Lord's sacrifice, I too have been resurrected in many different ways and at many different times, particularly over the past few years.  I thought back to where I was just this time last year and how the Lord has truly blessed me and once again, elevated me to the next level. I honestly feel like the enemy and certain people were gunning for me this time last year and to think of how I not only survived all of that but came out better than I could've ever thought, it's so awesome and can't be blamed on anybody but God (don't you just love when He does it like that!!).  I'm not perfect in Christ, and I know that I have a lot of work to do, but Lord knows that I love Him and I'm better than I could be.  I'm grateful for everything He has brought me out of and everything He has blessed me with, despite the efforts of the enemy and his little helper. I hope you honeeyz and guys took advantage of the significance of today, putting the Easter Bunny, Easter clothes, and extra to the side, to really reflect on how Christ's sacrifice and God's love has been a blessing in your life and what you can do to better serve Him and elevate yourself.  :-)

The MILK of it is, self reflection and evaluation is necessary for growth and success. Be sure to take some time out on a regular basis to evaluate where you are, what you came out of, where you want to be and where God expects for you to be!

Now, to the honeey...this little outfit.  I actually didn't wear this on Easter Sunday but it could've easily worked with the pastel peachy  chiffon top and lighter colors.  I got this top last year for my birthday from ASOS (I've told you guys before that I don't shop there anymore b/c their customer service sucks and I just can't give people my money when they can't give me service in return...I don't care how awesome their selection is or prices are).  Even still, you can't deny the fact that it's so nicely made and has a lot of great details (click after the break to see it all). These cargo pants were purchased about 8 years ago from H&M before people were even really rocking cargo (ahead of the trend?? yupp!) and they have been a staple in my closet.  I love to wear more feminine girly pieces with them to soften them up a little and I love that they are still one of he hottest and most versatile items in my closet 8 years later.  This gold cuff has to be the best $8 I spent in a while! And I swear it really gives me Wonder Woman superhero powers...or at least that's what I believe. LOL.
Pants: H&M (old...from 2004ish); Top: ASOS; Camisole: L.K. Bennett London; Shoes: BCBG Max Azria; Earrings and gold chain and ball necklacce; H&M; 14K Gold nameplate necklace: My own; Cuff Bracelet: Forever21; Wallet: Mac & Jac (TJ Maxx find); Watch: Marc by Marc Jacobs; Red Gold Bracelet; BCBGeneration
